What is “Color Mastery”?
Color Mastery represents your potential strength as a player. We count each card you've owned and played within each of the 05 colors to determine your potential power and seed you in events.
What is the Intention?
We want to make matchmaking fair by offering fair challenges coupled with appropriate and meaningful rewards. We have players at every end of the power spectrum, and our events generate unique uses of cards and Planeswalkers. This means we need something granular, scaling with each player's strengths and weaknesses: Color Mastery.
For PvP Events, both the challenge, your opponent’s difficulty, and the rewards, scale up with your Mastery Tier. For PvE Events, only the rewards scale up with Mastery Tier.
To sum it up, the more cards you own and know how to use, the more dangerous you are, and the more challenges we can send at you – all the while rewarding you appropriately. Since getting into higher Color Mastery Tier grants you better rewards, there is no reason to hold back.

How Does it Work?
ONLY cards you play with earn you Color Mastery points for the card’s color(s).
Multicolored cards multi-dip and colorless cards splash a little bit in all 05 colors. The rarer the card, the more Color Mastery points are given. Once mastered, a card remains so forever.
Cards are mastered by gaining experience with those cards. Winning Story Mode and Event battles give the cards in your deck experience or XP. Higher rarity cards take more XP to master but award more Mastery points.
i.e., The more you play with red cards, the more you increase your Red Color Mastery (and so on for all other colors).
Cards you have never used do not count toward your Color Mastery. If you want to get access to a better reward Tier, you might have to experiment with those unused cards to gain more Color Mastery points. But remember, the challenges will increase accordingly.

Earning Card XP
You need to play with non-mastered cards and win a Story Mode or Event Battle to earn Card XP. If you play with a mastered card, this card won’t give you Card XP points because this card is already mastered.
The amount of Card XP points you’ll earn depends on the type of the battle:
The amount of Card XP points you’ll earn depends on the type of the battle:
- Story Mode Battles gives you 20 XP to each card non-mastered in your deck on the first win. The next wins will give you 02 XP to each card non-mastered in your deck (after a win).
- Event Battles gives you 20 XP to each card non-mastered in your deck (after a win) for each node (*except for TG).
- In PvE events, if the event allows you to play the same node more than once, the subsequent wins will give you 02 XP to each card non-mastered in your deck (after a win).
- * Training Grounds gives you 06 XP to each card non-mastered in your deck (after a win).
Earning Color Mastery points
To earn Mastery Points, a card must become Mastered.
Once a card becomes mastered, you can never gain any more experience or Mastery Points from that card.
The following table shows how many XP you’ll need for a card to master it and how many Color Mastery points you will receive.

Multicolored cards will give you the Color Mastery points for each color it has.
For example:
Iroas’s Champion is a white/red uncommon card.
Mastering this card will give you 04 Color Mastery Points in White and another 04 Color Mastery Points in Red.
Colorless cards will give you half the number of Color Mastery points, but they will apply to all 05 Colors.
For example:
Warhorn Blast is a colorless common card.
Mastering this card will give you 01 Color Mastery Point in Black, 01 Color Mastery Point in Blue, 01 Color Mastery Point in Green, 01 Color Mastery Point in Red and 01 Color Mastery Point in White.

Color Mastery Tiers
There are 4 Color Mastery Tiers: Bronze; Silver; Gold; Platinum.
The following table shows how many Mastery Points you’ll need in each Tier and how much you have gathered.
The following table shows how many Mastery Points you’ll need in each Tier and how much you have gathered.
While all players will start at Bronze, regular players will quickly jump to silver, and engaged players to Gold (as they revisit old and new cards to master and gain Color Mastery tier). Once you've reached Platinum, you know that you're among the ranks of the most veteran and experienced players in the game.
Color Mastery is available for you to see in your player profile. You can see your progression in each of the 05 colors as below:

Color Mastery in Events
Your Color Mastery Tier will determine the rewards you’ll receive (for PvE and PvP events) and your matchmaking (only for PvP events) in an event.
When you open the Events page, you can check your Color Mastery Tier for each color at the bottom of the screen.

When a player joins an Event, the Event (on start) checks the player’s current Mastery level in the appropriate event’s color(s). A monoblack event (requiring only black planeswalkers) would only use your Black Color Mastery. A Red/Green event, your Red and Green only, and so on.
In case of multiple Color Mastery choices for the Event to pick from, the strongest Color is always chosen.

Bronze Tier: White and Blue.
Silver Tier: Black.
Gold Tier: Red.
Platinum Tier: Green.
Trial of the Planes: Black is a mono-color event that only allows Black Planeswalkers.
The system will check the player’s Color Mastery Tier in Black in this event.
As there is only one Tier choice, the player will be classified in the Silver Tier.
Training Grounds is a multi-color event that allows all 05 Planeswalkers' Colors.
The system will check the player’s Color Mastery Tier in White, Blue, Black, Red and Green in this event.
As there are four Tier choices (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum), the player will be classified in the Platinum Tier because this is the strongest one.
You can check which Tier you are classified in an event by clicking on the rewards button (shown in red). You can check this information before you join the event. Once you enter the event, a pop-up will display the Tier you are qualified for (shown in yellow).
